Counselor

Hi, I’m Kalie—founder of Wandering Counseling and a licensed professional counselor who believes that healing happens best through connection, creativity, and sometimes, a little fresh air.

Throughout my journey as a counselor, I’ve seen time and time again how meaningful relationships lie at the heart of transformation—especially for kids, teens, and adults navigating life’s twists and turns. Whether we’re using play therapy, expressive arts, movement, or metaphor, I meet clients with curiosity, care, and a commitment to walking alongside them with compassion.

Personally, nature has always been a grounding force in my life. Hiking alpine trails, reading beside a quiet river, or watching the sky shift above a tent—these moments have shaped me. They’ve offered clarity in chaos and reminded me that stillness can be deeply healing. Research supports the positive effects of nature on mental health, and I love weaving this sense of calm and perspective into our therapy space—even virtually.

My approach blends evidence-based practices with whole-person wellness. Through nature-based therapy, I support clients in building self-awareness, regulating emotions, strengthening problem-solving skills, and reconnecting with purpose. With tools like art, play, and experiential therapy, we’ll explore the layers of your story—past, present, and future—while developing the inner resources you need to thrive.

How I Became a Counselor

My passion for helping others began on the snowy slopes, teaching snowboarding to youth through the Snowboard Outreach Society. Watching kids grow in courage, character, and joy sparked something in me—and I knew I wanted to do work that made a lasting impact.

After college, I took the scenic route—teaching English in China, supporting children on the autism spectrum, and exploring landscapes and cultures that stretched my heart and perspective. I later earned my Master’s in Counseling from Adams State University while skiing mountains, harvesting grapes in Italy, and learning that life doesn’t always follow a straight path—and that’s okay.

Since then, I’ve worked in schools and nonprofits across Colorado—supporting teens, building middle school counseling programs from the ground up, and now serving elementary students while growing my private practice. My style is warm, real, and deeply rooted in the belief that every person has a story worth telling—and rewriting.

What to Expect

In our work together, expect a space that’s welcoming, nonjudgmental, and tailored to you. I offer virtual sessions that feel grounded and engaging, not stiff or clinical. Whether you’re navigating stress, emotional overwhelm, a life transition, or just feeling a little lost—I’m here to help you create small, meaningful shifts that lead to big change over time.

We’ll explore your story holistically, tapping into creative tools and lifestyle rhythms that support long-term emotional wellness. You don’t need to have the “right” words—you just need to show up as you are.

Let’s make space for something new to grow.
