Counselor

In my journey as a counselor, I’ve discovered that forging connections is the cornerstone of healing for young people and adults. My approach has always been about building rapport through play, engaging activities, and now, I’m eager to incorporate nature into the mix. Personally, I’ve felt the transformative power of nature during my hikes, camping trips, and those moments reading by the river. It instills a profound sense of tranquility, allowing me to momentarily escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, which in turn, equips me to confront challenges with renewed vigor.

My passion for helping others ignited during my college days as a snowboard instructor. Now, I’m driven to integrate nature-based counseling and play therapy into my sessions, recognizing their profound impact on the healing journey. I’m deeply committed to guiding people towards discovering purpose and fulfillment by nurturing their self-awareness, fostering innovative problem-solving skills, facilitating emotional exploration and expression, and instilling confidence in their abilities.

As a counselor I use a blend of creative outlets like art, play, and outdoor activities, I aim to encourage exploration of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. My counseling approach encompasses the entirety of an individual’s being, delving into memories, past experiences, relationships, environmental influences, and spiritual beliefs. Ultimately, my goal is to provide holistic support, guiding people towards self-discovery, resilience, and holistic well-being.

How I Became a Counselor

I have shared you with my counseling journey started with a passion for making a difference in kids’ lives. In college, I mentored with the Snowboard Outreach Society which a very profound moment for me, helping kids grow their strengths like courage and compassion.

After that, I had some amazing adventures—from teaching English in China to diving into behavioral therapy for children with Autism. These experiences fueled my desire to learn more about counseling.

I studied at Adams State University, all while exploring Italy, working at a vineyard, and skiing down mountains. After graduating, I worked at Savio House as a youth counselor, guiding individuals through tough times with personalized support.

Then, I built a counseling program at Cedaredge Middle School, where I helped students tackle life’s ups and downs with confidence. For five years, I was a high school counselor in Durango, where I used my skills to help teens navigate the stresses of life and school.

Now, I’m ready for a new adventure, bringing my passion and expertise to elementary kids, while working on my own practice to help youth Let’s make this journey awesome together!
